My Previous Theological Thoughts:

Advent 2022

Tonwen says:

Here we are in the season of Advent - it’s always good to have someone to accompany us as we prepare for the birth of the baby Jesus. This year, we are all reading The Art of Christmas: A Journey in Paintings through Advent and Christmas by Sr Wendy Beckett.

We are particularly looking at the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Journey to Bethlehem, and The Mystic Nativity.

August 2022

Tonwen says:

I got so excited choosing my new reading book for August that I needed a little lie down! This month I am thinking about how our faith interacts with public life and in particular with politics.

There are some brilliant questions in these books, such as ‘what makes us think God wants a democracy’ from Richard Harries, while Beth Phillips explores the politics of Jesus, and Sam Wells wonders what might be a vision for social action… I wonder if I will manage to read all three!

June 2022

Tonwen says:

“I love Rowan Williams! This book ‘Being Disciples’ is a very simple introduction to Christian life. Here is something from Rowan to think about:

‘Faith and hope and love are the heart of our discipleship, of our learning and growing in Christ.’

If you’re interested you could join Mthr Carol’s Pilgrim Course to find out more.”

May 2022

Tonwen says:

“I spend a lot of time in church and I like to make sure that all my theological thoughts are up-to-date, and valid!

So this month, I am reading Heresies and How To Avoid Them: Why it matters what Christians believe. This helpful book is edited by Ben Quash and Michael Ward. I’m really enjoying it!”
